General Information
Cairngorms Christian Centre is a purpose built self catering facility, situated in the Cairngorms National Park in the village of Kincraig, midway between Kingussie & Aviemore with easy access from the A9. It is ideally located to access all the activities possible in this beautiful area.
Groups, organisations, families & individuals are welcomed all year round, with visitors able to conduct their own programme or as a base to pursue their particular interest/activity using local providers. It suits a wide variety of purposes and age groups.
Accomodation
Cairngorms Christian Centre is a self catering facility, mostly on one level, welcoming up to 40 visitors in comfortable, mainly bunk (sit-up height) beds. The main Centre sleeps 34 in six 4 bunk rooms and four 2,bunk, with one twin bedded room.
The adjacent self-contained flat consists of a twin bedded room and its own kitchen, shower room & sitting room.
There are 2 bunkrooms each sleeping 2 in the same part of the building which can be booked with the flat or with the main Centre. There is a side entrance separate from the main Centre which has 2 steps.
Access
The main front door has both steps and ramp access to the entrance vestibule with benches for outdoor shoes /boot removal. This leads to a larger reception area with drying room to left containing adequate hanging and drying space for clothing and equipment, and 2 separate loos to the right.
Rooms Beyond
To the left, is the bedroom corridor with the bunkrooms. There are 2 toilet and shower areas with 4 showers in each and a separate wheelchair accessible toilet/shower.
Each bunkroom has its own wash hand basin and wardrobe storage. Two are wide enough for wheelchair access and one is large enough to accommodate equipment for moving and lifting.
The twin bedded room is accessed from the main reception area down a few stairs.
Lounge and Dining
From the main reception area, to the right past the office, is the open plan L shaped lounge/ dining area, with kitchen beyond . This is a large, comfortable relaxing space, with flexibility to arrange seating/tables to suit group/s purposes.
The kitchen is large with plenty of preparation space and is well equipped with all that is needed for catering for small or larger numbers.
There is a table tennis room which can also serve as a small meeting area. Further meeting spaces are available in the comfortable converted ‘garage’ across the car park or in the Church hall opposite, which has a large hall for indoor games and a smaller one for meetings. This is supplied with toilets and a small kitchen and the use of any of these can be arranged with the Manager.
Facilities
Car Parking
There is a car park which is large enough to accommodate the number of cars visiting ,mini buses or one full-sized bus. Parking is at owners risk.
Picnic/Barbecue area
Due to recent fires in the Cairngorm National Park we do not permit fires anywhere on the premises. The Centre can provide a mobile barbecue.
Sports Field
Outside the grounds, across the road there is a sports field which can be used for ‘wide games’ and there is another large area down near the Loch. For small chidren there are two small playparks beyond the Community Hall
Things to Know
- Dogs are permitted in the flat but not in the main Centre.
- Deliveries of food can be arranged from either Tesco or Asda online and Aviemore 6 miles north has a range of supermarket options.
- Kingussie the same distance south has a Co-op. The village has no shop now, but a lovely Café/Gallery just 5 mins walk away and Loch Insh Watersports a 15 min walk away, with stunning views, also serves food. The Suie pub is just round the corner.
- Fresh bedlinen will be left for you to make up. Please bring your own toiletries and towels. In the kitchen tea towels, cloths, washing up liquid and surface spray are provided.
- We encourage the use of re-fillable water flasks to minimise plastic waste.
- There is a screen, digital projector, keyboard, amplifier, flipchart stand, TV, radio /cd player music stand/lectern available to borrow.
- In the winter the car park can be covered very quickly with snow and so it is advisable to carry shovel/hessian/windscreen scrapers to assist any necessary snow removal before setting off each day.
- Groups might wish to take out insurance to cover any cost in the event of cancellation.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building but is possible in the picnic area
Alcohol
Among the Centre guests are groups and individuals who are on the road to recovery and need the security of knowing that the atmosphere is completely alcohol free.
We ask for the support of all groups in enabling this to be the case and so request that no alcohol is consumed anywhere on the premises. Please ensure that all members of your group are aware of this.
However, in consultation with the Manager arrangements can be made for special occasions. Celebration is wonderful. Please do not hesitate to indicate your plans when making the booking.
Alvie & Insh Church fellowship is delighted to welcome all who wish to join them for worship, hearing the Word, praying, learning together and sharing more over coffee . It meets at 9.30 on Sundays in the church overlooking Loch Insh or in the Church Hall in the Centre carpark (1st Sunday of every month). All meetings are via Zoom at the moment. Pastoral/Spiritual Support
During your visit opportunity can be created for eg. questions to be asked, morning or evening reflection, invited speaker to lead a discussion on spiritual matters/the ‘big questions’, personal prayer . Please let the Manager know if you would like any of these to be arranged .
